As Mandiant prepared to carve its own identity, distancing itself from its parent company, FireEye, the call for a unique digital and brand identity became paramount. At Genuine, I had the privilege to lead the UX design of their flagship website. The intensity of the project was palpable, with a clear objective: establish Mandiant's distinct digital presence in the cyber-security industry and ensure the brand could stand confidently on its own. This mission took on even greater significance when, mere weeks after our project completion, Mandiant announced its game-changing acquisition by Google.
In the realm of branding, Mandiant's evolution wasn't merely digital. While the website was our most significant endeavor, our collaboration spanned more facets of the brand. From reimagining their logo to signify their renewed stance, to crafting compelling advertising campaigns and copywriting that resonated with their ethos. Each element was meticulously curated, ensuring Mandiant not only emerged from FireEye's shadow but confidently stepped into a future enriched by Google's acquisition.
From the project's outset, I dove deep into collaboration with Mandiant's leadership and my own agency's business analyst. Our initial focus was to pinpoint the key business objectives for the website, ensuring that our digital endeavors were perfectly synchronized with the company's broader goals. With a robust business blueprint in hand, we explored Mandiant's diverse user base, identifying over half a dozen distinct persona groups. These personas were not just demographic placeholders; they were instrumental in shaping the user experience. By understanding the nuances of each group, we tailored our digital approach, making every visitor feel as if the site was crafted just for them.
Armed with our detailed audience understanding, we meticulously crafted user flows that ensured a smooth and intuitive navigation experience. This laid the groundwork for a well-defined sitemap and information architecture, establishing a solid foundation for the site's overall structure.
As Mandiant ventured to stand independently from FireEye, our challenge was to create their inaugural website and navigation. Imbued with intuitive UI principles, the new site navigation was designed for fluid user flow and optimum accessibility. This clarity of purpose extended to the crafting of over 15 distinct, mobile-first template pages, each resonating with Mandiant's nascent branding while ensuring uniformity and engagement for visitors. A cornerstone of this design consistency was the Component Design Library, a meticulous catalog of every template and component. This became an indispensable tool, guiding our team in the strategic use of components, either repurposing existing ones or innovating new designs.
Integral to our process were regular client consultations. Each design phase culminated in a presentation, ensuring that our designs not only resonated aesthetically but also aligned meticulously with Mandiant's business objectives. Garnering client feedback and their subsequent sign-offs ensured our designs remained both visionary and grounded in their corporate goals.
In bridging the gap between initial design concepts and final visual execution, collaboration was key. Working closely with the visual design team, I ensured that their high-fidelity designs impeccably echoed the wireframes I had crafted. This symbiotic process ensured our client received a coherent and true representation of our design intentions. Once the designs received client approval, my role pivoted to oversight during the development phase. Leveraging a hands-on approach, I collaborated closely with the developers, conducting thorough quality assurance checks. This ensured that every pixel, every function, mirrored our agreed-upon design and functioned flawlessly.
The successful completion of this website design project significantly enhanced Mandiant's online presence. The revamped website now presents a user-friendly interface that effectively communicates Mandiant's offerings to its audience. The intuitive navigation, visually appealing design, and user-centric approach have contributed to increased user engagement and an improved user experience. Through meticulous planning, collaboration, and comprehensive quality assurance, we achieved a successful outcome that enhances both Mandiant's brand and its interaction with its audience.
